Our play, The Pocket Watch, is partly based on Dragan Lazarevic’s award winning, compelling and biographical graphic novel of the same name. If you care for history, this graphic novel is a must-read. It will not only affect you deeply, but will also stay with you long after.
The play is set around three time periods, braided together by characters and their kinship. The Pocket Watch takes place around and during World War I, in the year 1933, as well as today. It tells the story of Radomir and Julka Lazarevic, a couple bound by love, mutual devotion and loyalty to their family, homeland and future. It is a tale of deep friendship and sacrifice, linked by the stories of those who remained and those who did not after the Great War. It is a story of the people who found strength to survive in a war-torn country.
